Craig Plastrik
Craig concentrates his practice on intellectual property law. He has broad experience in IP matters, including: patent and trademark portfolio development and strategies; patent preparation and prosecution; counseling for patent enforcement matters; patent, trademark, software, and technology licensing; industry standards body practice; and transactional matters.
Craig was previously a partner at the intellectual property law firm of Ditthavong, Mori & Steiner, PC. Before that, he spent ten years in the legal department at Hughes Network Systems, LLC, including five years as the Chief Intellectual Property Counsel. At Hughes, Craig managed a worldwide patent portfolio covering various telecommunications technologies, including satellite and terrestrial wireless communications technologies. He also provided legal counseling regarding intellectual property, U.S. government contracting, corporate mergers and acquisitions (including due diligence, and drafting and negotiation of intellectual property related merger documents and asset purchase and sale agreements), hardware/software purchase and sale transactions (including satellite and satellite ground infrastructure procurement transactions), and engineering services agreements.
Prior to joining Hughes, Craig was an attorney with McDermott, Will & Emery, where he worked on U.S. and international patent preparation and prosecution, patent invalidity and non-infringement opinions, and patent litigation. Before attending law school, Craig had extensive engineering experience as a Senior Engineer at Martin Marietta Aerospace working on U.S. Air Force fighter jet navigation and targeting system programs, as well as experience as a Field Applications Engineer for NEC Electronics supporting NEC’s microprocessor and ASIC semiconductor businesses.
Craig is a member of the Maryland State Bar and the District of Columbia Bar, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
